Step into the M&E projects shaping the Midlands
This role isn't for someone who wants to sit behind spreadsheets. It’s for a Quantity Surveyor who wants visibility, ownership, and progression in a lean team that delivers work across some of the UK’s most resilient sectors, from healthcare and education to defence and high-end hospitality.
Why this matters now:
The commercial team is expanding. A long serving QS has moved on, creating space for someone who wants to step in, take responsibility, and carve a route toward senior level. Projects range from £50K refurbishments through to £10M builds with each demanding sharp commercial control and confident handling of NEC contracts.
The business you’ll join:
A growing M&E contractor with a reputation for reliability and long term client trust. They’ve built a close knit culture where you’re more than a number, with direct access to the board and colleagues who’ve stayed the course for decades. The team runs fast, but it’s not faceless. You’ll know where you stand and where you’re heading.
What’s expected of you:
- Lead or support the commercial delivery of M&E projects, depending on experience
- Oversee full project lifecycle, from tender handover to final account
- Confidently manage NEC contract processes: early warnings, compensation events, delays
- Prepare and manage subcontractor documentation and payments
- Provide commercial and contractual advice that keeps projects on track
The work you’ll step into:
- Projects spanning education, retail, commercial, defence, and healthcare
- Live jobs between £50K-£8M, each with its own complexity and pace
- A team of QS peers, apprentices, and a Commercial Lead who’ll back your growth
- A balance of office base (West Midlands), site visits, and flexible working (when required)
Why people stay:
- Genuine path to Senior QS and beyond
- Family run values with board access, not corporate layers
- Long serving colleagues who set the tone for stability
- Variety of work: no two projects look the same
You’ll fit best if you…
- Thrive in a lean team where autonomy is expected
- Can manage clients and contracts, not just numbers
- Have contracting experience (main or sub), you know how site and supply chains move
- Want career growth without the bureaucracy
